The Duke of York visited CompactGTL’s training centre in The Wilton Centre as part of celebrations marking the company’s development.

CompactGTL has developed a technology that converts unused gas from oilfields into synthetic crude oil, reducing the gas burnt into the atmosphere and producing additional revenue for clients by enabling development of oilfields.

The Duke was given a briefing on how the company has developed
the technology and was introduced to the management team and technical staff.

Undertaking the visit while still the UK’s Special Representative for Trade and Investment, he praised the company’s work, which has included creating links with international suppliers from Germany to Japan.

He said: “This is a world-class and world-beating product and it is important that we get it to market as soon as possible. Others have a great deal to catch up with.”

Nicholas Gay, Chief Executive, said: “We were delighted to receive The Duke of York at Wilton. CompactGTL is a British success story which has transformed a technology from the laboratory to a working commercial plant in five years.”
