Leading edge status awarded to The Wilton Centre

February 2010

Steve Duffield and Ali Shankland

(L-R) Steve Duffield, The Wilton Centre's Accommodation Manager, receives a plaque from Ali Shankland, ict active's Partnership Manager, after getting the highest possible rating for the ICT support offered by the centre.

The Wilton Centre has been described as a flagship for the region in an independent survey of the Information Communications Technology (ICT) support it offers businesses.

The Wilton Centre has been awarded Leading Edge status following a survey by the ict active assessment scheme of both the infrastructure and services it provides.

ict active is the national standard for the provision of ICT in office buildings and is based on a British Standards Institute Publicly Available Specification (PAS 700) published in Spring 2009 which specifies the requirements for ICT facilities and services in the workplace. It surveys what is provided by a building and is designed to promote office spaces that have a high quality ICT offering.

To achieve the accolade, The Wilton Centre had to pass a tough and detailed survey which included a rigorous site assessment by one of ict active's surveyors to review the facilities, services and infrastructure on offer. Even the building's security and location is taken into the account.

There are several layers to the award and The Wilton Centre has achieved the highest accreditation possible - ict active Leading Edge.

Liz Wallis, Managing Director of ict active, highlighted how impressive The Wilton Centre’s achievement is.

"We are delighted that the Wilton Centre has achieved Leading Edge status under ict active. This represents that they are a flagship building in their region with a very high standard of ICT as, at this time, there are fewer than 10 properties in Yorkshire and Humber who have achieved Leading Edge.

"It also represents ict active moving across the region and we delighted to have the Wilton Centre as our key property in the Tees Valley and north east region."

The Wilton Centre's Accommodation Manager Steve Duffield said that good ICT support is vital for businesses to be able to operate effectively.

"Excellent ICT capability is a top priority for our tenants so official recognition that we offer the best support available is very pleasing," he added.

"To lead the region with the assessment given to our provision of ICT is also a huge compliment and we are extremely proud of our new leading edge status."
