The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), based at Wilton, has been highlighted as an example of best practice in a Government White Paper.

Entitled Innovation Nation, the document cites the CPI as a case study for innovation across the processing sector, regionally and nationwide.

Published by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), the White Paper sets out the Government’s aim to make the UK the best place in the world to run an innovative business or public service. It argues that innovation is essential to the UK’s prosperity.

The paper commends CPI for its unique market-led approach, working with universities at one end of the spectrum through to international industry at the other, to implement new and sustainable technologies.

Nigel Perry, CEO of CPI, said: “The White Paper is significant, not only in featuring CPI as an example of best practice, but also at a wider level it highlights that the DIUS has now recognised that current innovation models need updating.”

He added: “We are well on our way to achieving our aims and the Government’s recognition of the importance of market-led innovation indicates a step change in policy, an approach that has been at the forefront of the CPI business model since its inception.”
