An agreement between Darlington-based firm CTC Marine Projects Ltd and engineering recruitment company TechConsult UK Ltd is helping to increase the number of skilled workers finding employment in the global oil and gas industry.

TechConsult UK Ltd, which is based at The Wilton Centre, provides specialist permanent and contract personnel for

CTC’s projects in the world's oceans. It has played a key role in CTC's operations in Singapore and, in June and July, placed five skilled engineers - a quarter of the team working there - three of whom were permanent placements.

CTC Marine Projects Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trico Marine Group, is headquartered at Coniscliffe House in Darlington and operates a marine base from South Bank, Teesside.

The company operates some of the world's largest and most technically advanced marine trenching vehicles used in work ranging from trenching and cable laying to a subsea protection service for the offshore oil and gas, telecommunications and renewable power and military markets.

Having representation in Singapore is important to CTC. Nick Lee, the company's Senior Resourcing & Development Officer, said: "Techconsult understands CTC as a business and this will be key as we continue to expand into Asia and the need for skilled engineers to work on our global projects increases."

TechConsult UK has also provided personnel to work with CTC on other subsea projects and senior recruitment consultant Ian Marshall said: "We have been able to provide CTC with the kind of people that they need."

Steve Guest, TechConsult UK managing director, said: "The subsea sector is an important one for us and the people we provide to CTC have huge experience in the field."
