EDF Energy Renewables has opened an office at The Wilton Centre as it continues to develop green technologies on Teesside.
The company, EDF Group’s UK renewables development arm, has been tasked with driving forward new projects including Teesside Windfarm Limited, which is developing the Teesside Offshore Wind Farm.
Consisting of 27 turbines, the farm will produce enough electricity for 40,000 homes, or most of the households in Redcar and Cleveland. In addition, the farm will offset the annual release of about 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas.
The company has chosen to site its project office at The Wilton Centre because it is near the construction works required for the development of the Teesside Offshore Wind Farm and is convenient for a number of contractors employed by EDF Energy Renewables.
The 2,500 sq ft of office space has been taken for two years and will act as the main Teesside Windfarm Limited project office base, employing 15-20 people.
