SABIC’s Butadiene 3 Columns as seen from the Centre
Some of the The Wilton Centre residents will have noticed earlier this year the construction of a large scaffold and blue sheeting being erected around the columns on the Butadiene plant.
This work was carried out in preparation for a Turnaround on the Butadiene plant and the project included more than 680 individual work activities, including major refurbishment of the six distillation columns and statutory inspections.
The investment of about £12m not only provided additional jobs during the turnaround but provides about twelve to fourteen years of additional life to the plant, which demonstrates SABIC’s commitment to the SABIC facilities on Teesside.
During the past six weeks the final stage of the Turnaround has been the removal of the sheeting and scaffold revealing the clean shiny columns.
