NEPIC staff with the Technology Enterprise Den at the Wilton Centre
Children around Teesside have been learning about the wonders of technology in a mobile classroom launched last Autumn by NEPIC (North East Process Industry Cluster).
Funded by Redcar and Cleveland Council’s Local Enterprise Growth Initiative team (LEGI), the Technology Enterprise Den (TED) classroom was developed by specialist primary school teachers to complement the work being done in schools.
The TED unit supports existing learning in schools and encourages and supports pupils to design, build and evaluate solutions to real life-problems within the areas of Design and Technology.
Curriculum topics covered include renewable energy, electricity, playgrounds, movement and materials and the TED is available to schools throughout Teesside.
TED is suitable for Key Stage 1 and 2 children and stays at each school from Monday morning to Friday lunchtime.
A range of innovative activities is provided that may not otherwise be covered by schools, delivered by the teachers, who attend a familiarisation session in advance.
