Courses tackle costly wastage
June 2009

Training events have been organised by Renew at the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), aimed at educating residents about reducing wastage.
According to the organisation, taking steps to reduce waste can save a typical company one per cent of its annual turnover, as well as ensuring businesses do not fall foul of environmental legislation.
Renew at the CPI has arranged for CIWM, the professional body for waste experts, to run one-day Waste Awareness courses at The Wilton Centre.
The courses will provide residents with the knowledge and sources of information needed to help their companies minimise waste and stay within the law.
Subjects covered will include how to:
· Learn about di erent types of waste
· Know your legal responsibilities for waste
· Conduct a waste audit to identify cost savings
· Reduce, reuse and recycle waste
· Learn about disposal routes for remaining wastes
· Deal with waste safely
· Identify sources of help
Those successfully completing the course will receive a CIWM Waste Awareness Certificate which is valid for five years.
