Catering changes a hit with customers
April 2007
The new Simply Snack shop
The restaurant area at the Wilton Centre has been given a new-look and the initial response from customers has been very positive.
TaylorShaw Catering, which took over the area in August last year, has made a number of changes, including the refurbishment of the main restaurant.
Changes have included redesigned seating areas and a more diverse range of foods on sale, including home-made soup.
Sean Wentworth, the restaurant manager, said: “We have also reintroduced the live cuisine so people can order the likes of grilled steak, stir-fry and curry and watch it being cooked. We have plans to introduce tapas as well.”
Other changes have included switching the brand of coffee served to Douwe Egbert. TaylorShaw will be implementing a customer reward card for regular coffee drinkers. Please ask any of the assistants for cards, which can be used to obtain free drinks.
Sean said: “Generally, what we have done has been well-received and a lot of people have said they find the food nicer. We are certainly using fresher ingredients. The facelift for the facility has also helped and there have been a lot of positive reactions from people.”
Another innovation is the creation of Simply Snack, a shop selling everything from newspapers to hot meals. It is at the R1 entrance.
Mary Retires
Mary, who has managed the shop at the Wilton Centre Restaurant, recently retired after working at the site for 33 years. We wish her all the best in her retirement.
