THE+Centre+for+Process+Innovation+has+significantly+increased+its+foothold+in+the+Wilton+area.
In+less+than+two+years%2C+CPI+has+brought+more+than+40+jobs+to+the+area+with+some+of+the+UK%92s+industry+experts+now+based+at+Wilton.%0D%0A%0D%0AMore+projects+and+collaborations+are+taking+shape+as+the+CPI+continues+to+develop.%0D%0A%0D%0AThat+success+is+reflected+at+The+Wilton+Centre+as+CPI+takes+over+more+space+to+increase+its+facilities%2C+ranging+from+laboratories+and+offices+to+unique+equipment+and+pilot+plant+areas.%0D%0A%0D%0APart+of+the+need+for+more+space+is+down+to+the+announcement+that+a+national+facility+%96+funded+by+the+Northern+Way+%96+will+be+built+at+The+Wilton+Centre.%0D%0AWork+will+start+shortly+on+bringing+the+National+Industrial+Biotechnology+Facility+%28NIBF%29%2C+and+CPI%92s+expertise+in+the+field%2C+to+the+forefront+of+biotechnology+in+the+UK.%0D%0A%0D%0AThe+work+will+be+vital+to+the+British+chemical+industry%2C+securing+jobs%2C+environmental+benefits+and+international+acclaim.%0D%0A%0D%0ASpecialist+firm+Thermal+Transfer+will+build+the+facility%2C+due+for+completion+by+the+end+of+the+year.%0D%0A%0D%0ACPI+will+work+alongside+partners+of+international+significance+when+the+NIBF+is+up+and+running%3B+revolutionary+new+enzymes+produced+by+the+Manchester-based+Centre+of+Excellence+in+Boicatalysis%2C+Biotransformations+and+Biocatalytic+Manufacturing+will+be+vital.%0D%0A%0D%0ACPI%92s+Flexible+Electronics+Facility+%5C%27Clean+Room%5C%27+is+also+open+for+business+and%2C+along+with+the+newly-commissioned+%5C%27continuous+oscillatory+baffle+reactor%5C%27+%28COBR%29%2C+means+firms+can+try+out+their+new+processes+quicker+and+cheaper+than+by+traditional+processing+utilizing+the+unique+properties+of+the+COBR.%0D%0A%0D%0AThe+new+facilities+at+CPI+will+accelerate+innovation.+New+processes+will+mean+cleaner%2C+greener+methods+of+producing+things%2C+saving+time+and+money+and+limiting+waste.%0D%0A%0D%0ANigel+Perry%2C+Chief+Executive+Officer+said%3A+%93Our+need+to+spread+further+into+The+Wilton+Centre+is+a+reflection+of+the+way+our+projects+and+collaborations+seem+to+be+multiplying.%0D%0A%0D%0A%93In+the+coming+months%2C+we+will+see+the+baffle+reactor+and+clean+room+come+into+their+own.+Our+fuel+cells+laboratory+has+been+refurbished+and+orders+have+been+placed+for+the+electrolysers+to+produce+hydrogen+and+a+full-scale+fuel+cell+testing+station+for+cells+up+to+5kW.%0D%0A%0D%0A%93As+the+search+for+new+energy+sources+becomes+a+global+issue+the+Centre+for+Process+Innovation+will+be+at+the+forefront+of+the+UK+push.%0D%0A%0D%0A%93Now+CPI+is+well+and+truly+off+the+ground%2C+we+look+forward+to+new+challenges+and+we+relish+the+chance+to+take+over+even+more+of+The+Wilton+Centre%2C+filling+it+with+potential%2C+innovation+and+realised+ambition.%0D%0A%0D%0A%93With+the+continued+support+of+our+partners+including+One+NorthEast+and+the+DTI+we+do+believe+the+sky+is+the+limit.%94
